Manager, Credit Underwriting

Direct responsibility for the management and performance of accounts and notes receivable portfolio for [BUSINESS UNIT HERE], including all credit underwriting activities, adherence to current credit policies, practices and procedures to safeguard corporate assets and maximize overall recovery. These responsibilities include working closely with internal staff, senior regional staff, customers, and field sales.

Provide leadership, based on CAH's strategic drivers, to manage the large dollar accounts receivable portfolio. Recommend possible enhancements to current credit policies, practices and procedures.

Review and approve customer credit and financing requests of large dollar accounts based on sound credit fundamentals. Responsible for structuring of customer financial reports including terms and collateral position. Responsible for credit decision-making within the scope of authority and for identification and credit management of high risk accounts.

Ensure that Cardinal's high-quality customer service alliances are not jeopardized in the credit/collection process. Must work with all levels of sales and operations to determine opportunities based on due diligence parameters. Participate in all sales consultant forums.

Review changing trends in healthcare and the potential impact on the financial health of Cardinal's customer base and the quality of accounts receivable. Recommend strategies to take advantage of and offset the potential risk of such trends.

Serve as liaison between Credit Underwriting and business units.
Assist sales personnel with customer relationship management. Work and correspond effectively with sales department to efficiently approve or deny new credits. Also responsible for sales training. Responsible for customer agreement review. Responsible for setting goals and meeting targets set by the department.

Minimum five years of progressive credit and collection experience.
Formal bank or comparable credit training preferred with strong skills in credit and financial underwriting.
In-depth knowledge of credit and collection theories and practices and working knowledge of operations, purchasing and sales functions; must be able to integrate practical knowledge from all such functional areas.
Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
Good communication, management and interpersonal skills, and require limited supervision.
Ability to deal professionally, courteously and efficiently with internal and external customers.
Well developed management skills. Must possess the resourcefulness, planning and credibility to motivate and influence decisions and actions positively, from both a line management and staff perspective.
Strong computer skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements: The ability to develop an implementation plan to transition from a decentralized operation to a centralized shared service operation with minimal business interruption. Must understand how to organize a credit underwriting operation using best of class processes.
