Manager, Finance - Strategic Marketing (Thomson West)

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
Directs and supports all activities related to financial planning / forecasting at a segment, product, and initiative level, and directs expense analysis for assigned Market Segments(s). Directs the L/E and annual planning processes, ad hoc analyses and business case activities as well as consolidating of this information for the Segment VP's.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
1. Manage staff of financial analysts to ensure proper support of market segment financial needs and product initiatives. Review monthly financial results and guide analysis necessary to explain variances and trends across segments by media. Oversee annual expense budgeting and LE process for the segments. Provide proactive analysis of segment revenue and product issues through thorough review of revenue trends and components. Act as financial liaison for segment staff on business cases. Provide guidance to staff regarding depth of analysis needed relevant to the specific product. Participate in discussions regarding new product attributes and ideas.

2. Provide guidance to Other Finance departments that provide monthly or ad hoc revenue reports targeted toward the segment needs. Review monthly expense and capital results in SAP to ensure accuracy of financial results. Interface with segment and marketing management regarding monthly expense results to ensure a proper understanding of all variances and issues. Act as liaison between Finance organizations to ensure proper understanding and analysis of segment revenue across all media. Provide all analysis within West Group on initiatives and programs that affect Segment revenue - Including Print, CD and Online effects.

3. Drive continuous improvement efforts that enhance quality, business practices, and productivity for assigned team. Looks to streamline and reduce work complexity through the development and implementation of automated solutions (i.e. reporting systems queries) that provide value for finance team as well as business unit line managers.

4. Establishes and maintain an environment that optimizes team performance for the assigned Finance team. Promotes opportunities for knowledge sharing and skill building across department that helps develop talent at all levels. Optimizes organizational performance by ensuring processes are in place to attract and to retain top talent, as well as mentoring and developing direct reports.

5. Works on a variety of special project as assigned by Finance Director.
Qualifications

? BA degree in accounting or finance required. CPA or MBA in accounting or finance strongly desired.
? Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive financial management experience, including lead operational financial

management roles.
? Extensive financial modeling and strategic analysis skills
. Broad knowledge of business case analysis.
? Proven ability to interact and influence executives in a dynamic business environment, including formal presentations
. Proven influence and "push back" skills with senior executives
? Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in making decisions and implementing change.
? Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands for limited

resources.
? Familiarity with SAP and/or Business Objects desired.
? Ability to effectively manage and build relationships in a matrixed environment
? Leadership skills in developing and training staff
? Ability to work extended hours on a regular basis
? Ability to travel as required by the needs of the business
