Manager ? Financial Reporting

 Job Purpose

 

This position is primarily responsible for the production and timely submission of required filings to the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). This position is also responsible for accounting research and analysis, preparing the annual financial statements for the Company?s employee benefit plans and assisting other departments and subsidiaries on an as-needed basis in order to accomplish their objectives.

 Essential Functions

 Preparation and timely submission of quarterly Form 10-Q, annual Form 10-K and the report to shareholders and Form 11-K for CBB.  Also, assist in the preparation of registration statements (e.g. S-1, S-3 or S-4) on an as-needed basis. (40%) Analysis of and related implementation of new accounting pronouncements. Also, keep current on accounting literature in order to ensure compliance with all accounting disclosure requirements. (15%) Responsible for the preparation of financial statements for the Company?s pension plans and voluntary employee benefit association (VEBA) plans and provide client assistance to external auditors with regard to the audit of same. (10%) Review monthly financial results to assess balance sheet and income statement fluctuations and assist with certain aspects of the monthly closing, as business needs dictate. (10%) Assist Investor Relations in the communication of financial results to the investing public and provide financial statements used in quarterly earnings releases. (10%) Responsible for accounting for equity transactions, including the calculation of basic and diluted shares outstanding used in the Company?s earnings per share calculation. (5%) Monitor activity in the Company?s restructuring reserves and initiate adjusting entries necessary to reflect that proper balance in these reserves. (5%) Provide review on behalf of Corporate Accounting of proposed derivative transactions in order to ensure that the Company?s objectives are met with regard to proper accounting treatment. Also, initiate accounting entries necessary to reflect this activity. (5%)

 Education

 

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

 Experience / Background

 

3 to 5 years

 Accreditation / Certification / Licenses

 

Four year degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience

CPA Preferred

 Previous Job Experience

 Experience in accounting and auditing (preferably with a Big 4 accounting firm or in the telecommunications industry) Prior experience with SEC filings

 

Special Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

 Excellent written communications skills Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work well under pressure Good working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles Good working knowledge of Excel and other commonly used desktop software
