Manager - General Accounting

Shell Oil Products US. is currently seeking a Manager -  General Accounting for its Houston, Texas location.
 




Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be responsible for leading and directing accounting transaction processing, process improvements, standardization, and simplification of general ledger record to report for the entire Downstream - Lubes organization.  You will be responsible for Transaction recording for Trident SAP systems and IFRS and US GAAP responsibilities.  This includes leadership for Lubricants General Accounting (e.g., Revenue, SD&A, Debt, IOT, Product Costing, Commissions, Royalties and Expenses) personnel including indirect leadership for Lubes Accounting in the Manila Shared Service Center.
Key Accountabilities Include:
Managing delivery of SOX 404 Attestation
Partnering with SOX team on design and operational effectiveness audits
Controlling owner with responsibility sign off
Designing and implementing opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction, simplification and standardization within department
Completing Shared Service Center migration for Lubes Accounting
Completing project Mayflower
Defining responsibilities and ensures the resources and systems within the team deliver successful outcomes
Recording transaction under IFRS and GAAP policies as described by Group Accounting Policy (GFAP), Regional Accounting Policy Team, and Manual of Authority
Requiring partnering with Assurance Advisory teams locally and globally
Encouraging cross-business staff moves and mentoring
Acting as mentor for US Shell personnel via one on one and mentoring meetings
Managing Finance Competency Framework (FCF), Current Estimated Potential (CEP), Goals and Assessment Performance (GPA), Individual Development Plans (IDP) and other development plans as needed for all staff
Providing information to reporting group for quarterly internal company, governmental, and tax reporting




Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must possess a Bachelor?s Degree (Master?s Degree preferred) in Accounting or Finance and have approximately 10 ? 15 years significant financial accounting and management experience.  Advanced degree or CPA required.
