Manager of Finance

SUMMARY: Primary support to the Director of Finance, IS&T. Responsible for all financial controls for Business Technology and SAP including: Tracking, analysis and reporting of financial performance, analysis, preparation and reporting of budgets, projections and financial reports, and review of existing financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and to ensure internal controls are proper and effective.
SCOPE AND IMPACT OF JOB: Financial Responsibility for Capital Budget of $16 Million and Operating Budget of $30 Million.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
* Related Work Experience: Eight to ten years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
* Formal Education or Equivalent: An undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
* Technical Skills: Strong PC skills including Excel (in depth), MSWord, & Graphic Packages. Mainframe Systems (SAP) experience including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Capital Tracking, and Budgeting (Hyperion) are a plus.
* Other: Candidate must have strong financial planning skills and possess strong interpersonal skills to be able to interact with all levels of management in both written and oral format.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance):
This position is the primary support for the Director of Finance, IS&T. As such, special projects, which can delve into any area he is responsible for, are as important to the position as the "normal" aspects of the position. This Manager of Finance position:
* Manages & controls the financial reporting process (month & year end actual, budgets, strategic plans) for Business Technology and SAP. Provides clear, concise explanations of reported variances from budget and forecast. This position acts as a liaison with the operating unit heads.
* Develops the operating budgets, forecasts and strategic plan in conjunction with the operating unit heads.
* Monitors the Contract Administrator function by reviewing and approving all invoices, providing analysis and review of the Corporate wide Microsoft agreement and other software contracts providing direction for savings opportunities (i.e.: payment terms, interpretation of contract obligations), and providing support where required.
* Performs special projects as required.
* Directs the capital budget process. Responsible for developing the applicable budget, directing or assisting in the development of the financials, providing analysis of capital, expense, depreciation and amortization budgets, and developing applicable allocations.
* Oversees the Capital Appropriations Request Process including coordinating the financial input for CARs, providing analysis (i.e.: lease vs. buy), and providing write-ups as required. Coordinates Post Completion Audits of CARs as required. Develops presentations for review with senior management.
* Interacts with vendors and departmental personnel in corporate accounting, legal, the business units and systems to resolve issues and problems.
