BPs Supply and Trading activities were brought together in our Integrated Supply and Trading (IST) division, formed in 2001. ISTs role in the Group is to enhance performance and maximize value for BPs Assets through the disciplined application of Supply and Trading insights and techniques. IST actively manages the links between Assets and across Supply Chains, contributing to distinctiveness and competitive advantage for BP.


Our expertise and reputation is built around our people, systems and information flows. We operate across all BPs businesses, touching 60-65% of the Groups turnover, providing the commercial face of BP to the traded commodity and financial markets.


IST Oil Americas (OA) handles the Supply and Trading activities for BPs Oil and Chemical businesses in the Americas. The Business Unit (BU) and majority of our 700+ staff are headquartered in Warrenville, Illinois, with a material presence in offices in La Palma, California; Houston, Texas; and Calgary, Canada. Our teams work closely with the BP Business Units in Refining and Marketing and Exploration and Production.


The Market Analyst-Gasoline role is designed to analyze and develop trading opportunities for gasoline via global/regional market analysis. This position will have direct commercial impact on trading decisions and will provide opportunities to develop a strong understanding of the North America products market from both a fundamental and trading perspective. This role provides critical input to the understanding of oil markets and will be able to leverage the team's ability to manage, analyze and communicate commercial information. While this position will report directly into the Global Gas Trading team, the role also has functional accountability to the Global Market Analysis team.


The Market Analysis team is responsible for identifying market opportunities through pricing and fundamental analysis. The primary outlet for market execution of these learnings is through IST OA Trading Benches and affiliate BUs. The team will network learnings and skills with Global Analysts and Trading rings. The focus will be designed to directly impact IST and Performance Unit profitability over the next 2 to 24 months.


Accountabilities Include:

Identify market opportunities in both pricing and fundamental structure for delivery to the appropriate bench for capture.
Develop and maintain tools and data sources to analyze America's Crude and Product Markets.
Collect and disseminate summaries of competitive information across benches and affiliate businesses.
Provide market forecasts for benches and affiliate BU's.
Lead gasoline market analysis for OA. 
Develop forward gasoline supply and demand forecasts on regional basis (in conjunction with other oil forecasts).
Provide insight into real-time fundamentals and pricing.
Identify and evaluate trading opportunities to support Gasoline Trading positions.


Required Qualifications: 
To be considered for the role of Market Analyst-Gasoline applicants must have:

A high level of knowledge and experience in roles that have required quantitative analysis.
Strong commercial understanding of the oil business.
A strong ability to use and develop spreadsheets and databases.
The ability to summarize data in a clear and concise manner.
The initiative to seek out new opportunities, as well as new ways to solve problems.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the oil business.
Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.

The willingness and ability to relocate to or commute on a daily basis to Warrenville, Illinois.
