Project Manager - Finance Process

Job Description:   The Project Manager role is responsible for managing strategic programs and initiatives that affect the financial operations of the Corporate Finance Organization.  Projects are reviewed and prioritized by the Finance Leadership Team.  Projects consist of cross functional Finance/Operations Finance and Sales Planning projects which drive efficiencies and synergies into the overall Finance process including integrations projects.  Project Manager will work in conjunction with departmental resources to implement agreed upon projects across the Finance organization.  Additional responsibilities are to identify areas for continuous improvement through statistical process controls and data analysis.  The position requires a multi-level discipline in process mapping, data assimilation from disparate sources, and ability to customize information to a variety of users based on the requirements to deliver on organizational goals and objectives.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

? In conjunction with the responsible finance leader, determine the project approach, resources, responsibilities, and schedule. Develop and/or review estimates and estimating assumptions for the project?s schedule, effort, and cost, best practices, and past experience.

? Define team member roles and expectations, and ensure timely feedback.

? Review, track and be responsible for, the overall development and integration of requirements.

? Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the process to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and that it meets or exceeds expectations. Balance scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risks. Make adjustments as necessary.

? Define the project iterations strategy. Manage and evaluate iterations.
Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Management Plan, including the configuration management, risk management, issue management, and communication plans.

? Ensure that all requirements, project plans, and changes to commitment are communicated to all affected team members with a focus on the Finance Leadership Team to create a cross functional awareness of how individual projects impact the timelines across multi-interrelated initiatives.

? Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations.

? Ensure that the project team follows all quality assurance processes, including periodic reviews and transitions.

? Review and manage all changes to the requirements that may drive scope changes.

? Represent the Program and/or Project team(s) at associated meetings with cross functional teams.

? Ensure that the project?s assigned portion of the Business Case planned value is delivered and ensure that the end product fulfils the scope and meets the sponsor's expectations.

? Ensure that the organization capitalizes on it?s investment by conducting Lessons Learned ? Review process and recommend improvements

? Project Closure ? Close out all project documentation e.g. risk log, quality and project plans and updates.

? Standardize processes and look for disparity/synergies between processes and process documentation.

? Manage cause and effect and systemic impact across all projects.

? Causal analysis is critical in this role as it will be the catalyst to identification, business case justification and strategic initiatives.  The Project manager has the responsibility to identify, present and facilitate the conversion of strategy into action.

? Must be able to prioritize, influence and coach resources towards best outcome for the business.

 

 

Qualifications:

? Bachelor?s Degree and 8-10 years of relevant experience managing large multi faceted projects across an entire organization. Financial background desired

? Program / Project Management experience required. Process development with full scope of documentation, project planning, training and monitoring for effectiveness

? Proficient in use of all of the following: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Outlook, Experience with Microsoft Access

? Program and Project Management skills

? Ability to prioritize and multi-task

? Strong attention to detail and ability to summaries and communicate at all levels of the organization
