Research Associate - Non-Marketable Alternative Assets

Responsibility:

 

Gather, generate, analyze, and disseminate information about non-marketable alternative asset (possible sectors: US and non-US private equity and venture capital, real estate, timberland, oil and gas, distressed/recovery, or fund-of-funds) investment managers and their current investment environments for the benefit of Cambridge Associates and its clients.

 

 Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

 

1. Act as primary point of contact for non-marketable alternative asset investment managers. Facilitate registration of manager with Firm. Coordinate and participate in manager meetings. Contribute to initial manager assessment process.

 

2. Assist research consultant in conducting due diligence on non-marketable alternative asset investment managers. Responsibilities would include: initial manager meeting follow-up (comments and issues), due diligence plan, reference checks, strategy evaluation, terms review, performance evaluation (coordinating with Control group) and summary memo with recommendation.

 

3. Contribute to quarterly non-marketable alternative assets ?Summary Observations? and monthly ?Current Valuations? periodic overviews of the sector, firm publications that are accessed by consultants and clients.

 

4. Collaborate on collecting and analyzing data for inclusion in periodic research reports.

 

5. Coordinate and address appropriate research requests.

 

6.   Delegate and organize all data entry, filing and associated requests with appropriate internal parties.

 

7. Represent Cambridge Associates at annual manager meetings and industry conferences when required, generating

  appropriate output as directed by Research Consultant.

 

 Qualifications and requirements:

 

? Bachelor?s degree (any major) with a record of achievement.

? Familiarity with Excel, accounting and alternative investments preferred.

? Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

? Demonstrated writing and oral communication skills.

? Ability to work both independently and in a team under time pressure.

? Ability to prioritize multiple requests for information, while ensuring integrity, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data.
