SOX Prime, NA Payroll/HR/AR

Scope of Position: Reporting to the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Lead, Corporate Functions and Shared Services, this position will assist in the project management of Nortel?s requirement to render an assessment on the operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and the external auditor?s requirement to render an opinion on management?s attestation as it relates to N.A. Payroll/HR and Accounts Receivable.  This position will interact with internal and external audit, Information Services as well as other Nortel departments and cross-functional teams in achieving this critical corporate objective.

Key Accountabilities of Position:
- Manage and coordinate the Sarbanes-Oxley process for N.A. Payroll/HR and Accounts Receivable to ensure that documentation and testing of processes and controls is complete, accurate and completed on schedule by working closely with various Process Owners.
- Review SOX documentation, testing results and control assessments and provide feedback to Process Owners to ensure that assigned business cycles are properly documented and internal controls are self-assessed properly to support SOX requirements.
- Support the SOX process from initial scoping of work, roll out of documentation and testing templates and collation of the results of testing.
-Provide training and support to Nortel Process Owners on SOX documentation, testing and remediation steps to ensure consistency and quality.  Also provide guidance on internal control procedures to assist Process Owners in understanding internal controls and ensuring controls are in place and operating effectively.
-Monitor and report on identified control gaps and issues and the status of remediation plans.
Assist Process Owners in developing and refining process documentation and test scripts to improve SOX compliance process.

Education & Experience:
BA/BS or Masters in Accounting.
Professional Accounting Designation (CA/CPA/CMA/CIA) strongly preferred.
5+ years relevant work experience, with experience in public accounting and/or internal audit strongly preferred.
Experience working in large, complex and rapidly changing environments.
Skilled with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Visio).
Knowledge of and exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements desirable.
