Job Description:

 

Responsible for completion and maintenance of general ledgers and financial reports.  Maintenance of all journal entries, schedules, and reconciliations related to intercompany transactions, fixed assets and prepaid accounts.  Assist in process improvement as needed as well as approval of unrelated journal entries.

 

Essential Job Function

Accurate preparation of monthly financial statements.  This entails analysis of the various balance sheet accounts to determine proper classification of assets, liabilities, revenue and expense items. Preparation of journal entries to properly book items in the above categories on a monthly basis.

Job Description

 

Intercompany Transactions

Responsible for timely and accurate processing all intercompany transactions.  This includes producing journal entries from Cost Center Reports as well as from reports and confirmations from other Thomson companies on a monthly and an ongoing basis.  All entries must be accurate and include adequate support.

 

Fixed Assets

Responsible for physical inventory of all company fixed assets and for the addition/deletion of assets in fixed asset system.  Accurate depreciation journal entries must be written and entered on a monthly bases, and be supported by auditable schedules.

 

Capitalized Software Development

Responsible for the capture, analysis and capitalization of all relevant development hours.  Further analysis includes depreciation of collected time and ongoing review of project status and time entry.

 

Prepaid Maintenence

Responsible for maintenance of all prepaid balance sheet accounts.  Responsibilities include maintaining accurate schedules and producing all related journal entries

 

Royalty Calculation

Responsible for calculation and submission of royalties, and for the maintenance of all related schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

 Bachelor?s Degree (preferrably in accounting or business) 4+ years of progressive financial experience in a position requiring independent thought and judgement. Strong analytical skills and reasoning are required as well as being detail and accuracy oriented.
