Basic Purpose of Position:
This position provides financial support to the Research & Development group. 

Activities include:  Managing the worldwide expense and budgeting processes for the R&D group, including monthly close & related reporting activities, annual budgeting process and periodic budget updates.  Position also includes developing business cases and market models to evaluate internal development opportunities as well as support of the annual LifeScan strategic planning process.


Essential Functions/ Major Responsibilities:
1.  Manage the monthly close process for WW Core R&D, including business partnering, expense reporting, budget / actual variance analysis, profit log preparation, and headcount reporting. 
2.  Manage the budgeting process, including annual and periodic WW budget preparation / coordination and comparison of budget / actual results. 
3.  Support annual Strategic Planning process 
4. Support ad hoc Finance projects, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance & testing for R&D, Maverick POs, and general R&D business partner support
5.  Develop business cases and market models to evaluate internal development opportunities

Other Duties:
Update/train business partners on new finance initiatives (purchase orders and departmental expense procedures, expense approval limits, SOX, purchasing cards, etc.)

Presentations to the finance group and R&D business partners

Partnering with sales & marketing, FP&A and operations finance on finance initiatives.

Interact with J&J corporate to analyze business cases and during strategic planning process 


Key Working Relationships:
Internal: 

LifeScan Scotland finance contacts, US Finance Directors, VP, and management personnel in R&D and GSM and other support functions.  These contacts primarily are to understand business initiatives, review budgets and monthly financial results, develop business cases, and to provide support for their functions. 
External:

Regional (umbrella) companies during the Strategic Plan process

J&J Corporate legal, tax, and finance departments in connection with the strategic planning process and preparation of business cases






Education:

BS/BA in Accounting, Business, or Finance; CPA/CMA a plus.


Experience:

BS-BA degree and 4 — 6 years of relevant finance experience.


Special Skills Required:
Financial and business software
