Senior Financial Consultant

Summary of Responsibilities:

We are seeking an actuary to be the lead Traditional Life Valuation person for one or more of MetLife-s legal entities. The position will report to the Traditional Life Valuation Actuary. The individual will be responsible for the legal entities- GAAP, Stat and Tax valuation as it relates to financial reporting and actuarial issues.

 

Principal Responsibilities

 - Manage a team of actuarial and/or financial reporting personnel.
- Lead the migration of various Traditional Life products from MetLife legacy valuation systems to MetLife- standard Polysystems valuation system.
- Manage the monthly close process for calculating, analyzing and reporting the GAAP, Statutory and Tax reserves, and DAC on FAS 60 life products, for the block of business.
- Assist in determining, updating and maintaining the reserve assumptions for the block of business.
- Support quarterly and year-end GAAP, Statutory and Tax financial reporting and filing requirements for the block of business.
- Partner with accountants to analyze and interpret earnings on a monthly basis.
- Work very closely with IT staff to move processes/valuations into a fully automated production environment.

Required Competencies:

Strong Microsoft Access and Excel skills

Polysystems Valuation software familiarity a plus

Knowledge of FARO/PeopleSoft a plus

Reserve Repository experience a plus

Very good written and oral communication skills

Understanding of Statutory and GAAP reserve valuation requirements

Society of Actuaries ASA level or above (or equivalent, based on SOA exam level and work experience)

Ability to work under tight time frames with a sense of urgency

Understanding of traditional life products a plus

Ability to manage and develop associates effectively
