Sr. Financial Analyst Segment Planning

JOB SUMMARY

Provide leadership and organization for MIQ’s planning function. This position will take significant role in researching, selecting and implementing a new planning system for MIQ. A new planning system will be one of the primary strategic goals for MIQ finance for 2007. In addition, the position will be charged with improving the distribution of the plan and related variance analysis to all of the business segment owners.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1  Take ownership of the planning, forecasting and PI process for MIQ. Help to evolve the process from a push to a pull (self service) solution for the plan contributors and information users in the organization.

2  Design and deploy web based reporting tools and processes that are self service oriented for the business unit owners.

3  Take complete ownership of capital expenditures plan and forecast. This process has become much more cumbersome with late acquisitions. YRCW has placed a great deal more focus on this discipline requiring greater diligence by MIQ.

4  Take a leadership role in the design and implementation of the new planning tool to be installed by MIQ in 2007.

5  Function as the point person for MIQ with YRCW for the compilation and dissemination of the annual plan and forecast deliverables.

6  Manage 2 to 3 business segment planning analysts (specialists) that will function as subject matter experts for planning, and acting as liaisons with the accounting leads of the various business units.

7  Compilation of monthly financial reporting package.

8  Identification and completion of analysis to help management understand business trends and opportunities. 

 



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1.  Bachelor’s degree in business or finance.

2.  2 to 4 years work experience in finance or analytical support position.

3.  Demonstrated problem solving and quantitative analysis skills.

4.  Excellent computer skills including high degree of skill in Excel and PowerPoint.  MS Word, Access, Project, and Visio also desirable.

5.  Proven analytical abilities.

6.  Ability to establish and communicate clear priorities and to influence others to take action in support of those priorities.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Accounting degree with “Big 4” public accounting firm experience.

2.  MBA degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

3.  Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills.

4.  Logistics or transportation experience.
