Sr. Financial Project Manager

The Speech and Language Department at BBN Technologies has been a leader in the research, development and application of speech and language technologies for over 30 years. We are involved in work ranging from advanced research and development to the fielding of applications encompassing speech recognition, speaker identification and verification, speech coding, extraction of names from text, topic classification, question answering, audio monitoring and indexing, dialog processing, speech-to-speech translation, and multi-lingual optical character recognition (OCR). We perform professional services and license speech and language technologies, primarily to the US Government.

The BBN Speech and Language department is currently seeking a Project Manager to provide direct support to the department Vice President developing and maintaining fiscal policies and procedures that comply with corporate standards. The department has approximately 40 active programs and $30M in annual sales.

The Project Manager will perform the following:

* Preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
* Financial analysis and reporting of results vs. budget/forecast. This includes key performance indicators, manpower planning, capital needs, backlog and ledger to sub-ledger reconciliation.
* Responsible for month-end financial close to include preparing of adjusting sales and cost entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company standards.
* Assist in KPMG, DCAA, and DCMA audits.
* Be the liaison to Corporate Senior Management and Finance for department and cost center fiscal matters.
* Responsible for administration and control of business operations to include program administration, all matters financial and system maintenance.
* Work with Contract Relations group in response to RFPs and BAA solicitations. This includes proposal risk assessment and pricing strategies, supervision and coordination of cost proposal activities including staff assignment, financial review and pricing strategy.
* Provide program management support via direct assistance on contracts or through project administration.
*Responsible for the hiring, supervision and career development of 2 or 3 project administrators.

Required Experience:
* 8-15 years experience working in a Government accounting environment.
* BS or MS in Accounting, Finance or other Business discipline.
* Proven financial and management skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Advanced MS Office software skills. Experience with Pro-Pricer and SAP a plus.
* Discretion with sensitive information.
* Proven ability in building strong relationships of trust and displaying the highest level of professionalism.
* Ability to manage and supervise work of subordinates.
* In depth knowledge of complex corporate systems, policies and standards of conducting business.
* Ability to analyze corporate reports, such as P/L, to monitor and control fiscal performance.
* Proven leadership in developing policies, procedures and implementing changes.
* Ability to obtain US DoD security clearance is preferred.
