UNIX (Solaris-Linux-Veritas-Clustering) Administrator {Fincial Services Experience Required}

Department Overview:

The US UNIX support team consists of 5 staff and is responsible for providing 2nd and 3rd line support for the firms global UNIX estate

Main Function of the Job:

Unix SA to perform all run-the-bank tasks including 24X7 support within a follow the sun operational model.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The candidate should possess the following skills:

? Excellent knowledge of Sun Solaris and the Sun SPARC hardware range

? Excellent knowledge of Veritas File system, Volume Manager and Cluster products

? Excellent knowledge of Linux, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux

? Scripting (strong)

 

? Excellent problem solving skills

? Regular and ad-hoc reporting

? Manage proactive maintenance programmes

? Prioritise workload and monitor deliverables

? Compliance with both internal and external audit requirements

Qualifications /education:

 BS/BA in Science or Engineering

Experience required:

Excellent technical knowledge gained from senior hands on role within a global organisation.  Skills must be current and include;

? 4 years? experience of Solaris and Sun hardware in a mission critical environment

? 2 years? experience of Linux in a commercial environment

? Investment banking experience, preferably in a front office role
