RISI is the leading publisher of news and information for the forest products industry. We publish newsletters, magazines, special reports, books and much more. RISI has offices throughout the U.S. and internationally.  This position is located in our Bedford, MA, office (just outside of Boston).  RISI offers excellent opportunities for young professions, including training in developing economic-based models and co-authoring high-profile industry publications.

 

Core Responsibilities

The Economist will provide research support for our regular publications and special studies. Responsibilities will include updating and managing our extensive databases of time-series data, as well as developing new sources of data, both from published material and through survey work. Most of the computer work is done in Excel, Eviews, and a proprietary econometrics software package.  The Economist will also assist in the production of tables and charts for our monthly and quarterly publications as well as the production of PowerPoint presentations for clients and conferences, among other responsibilities

 

In addition, the successful candidate will assist in the development of forecasting models on both a national and global level and contribute to RISI?s written and oral presentation of the forecasts.  Analytical responsibilities will grow with experience.

 

Desired Skills

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:Master?s (preferred) or Bachelor?s degree in Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field. Knowledge of Economic Theory; Micro, Macro, and EconometricsGood organizational skillsStrong quantitative and analytical skills.Effective Communication Skills; Oral and WrittenSolid computer skills, preferably in use of Excel and Eviews.Ability to think creatively and work independentlySuperior attention to detailStrong work ethicSecond language is a plus
