Job Summary: Locates and seeks to secure payment from customers with charged off accounts by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Account Representatives will be required to attend a full four week paid training program.
Account Representatives send letters or call debtors to determine why a bill has not been paid. When contacting debtors, collectors inform them of the overdue amount. Account Representatives try to determine why the payment is late, and attempt to work out payment plans with debtors. When customers agree to pay, Account Representatives note this in the records. When a debtor does not agree to pay the debt the Account Representative must negotiate with the debtor to secure payment.
Account Representatives often need to locate debtors who moved and did not leave a new address. Account Representatives skip trace using a variety of resources (Lexis-Nexis and other approved sources) to obtain a debtor?s new address and/or phone number. Once the debtor is located, the address is updated into the database, and then they are contacted to secure payment.
Account Representatives will be responsible to handle administrative tasks for their accounts. They will keep records of contacts made with each debtor regarding their financial status and the collection efforts.
Account Representative is expected to meet monthly collection goals set by the company.
Will be required to read and understand credit reports.
Each month Account Representatives must review, prepare and refer accounts to the Legal Department for further action if necessary.
An Account Representative will spend majority of the day on the phone or the automated dialer while working their accounts on their computer. They will be trained on FDCPA regulations and required to comply with them.
Must actively participate in a team centered environment.

Experience in dealing with people in difficult situations. Have ability to be compassionate, remain claim and understanding but remain focused on securing the payment.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty.
Must be able to multi task, stay highly organized and manage time well in a fast paced and challenging environment.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Knowledge of FDCPA regulations preferred.
Experience in collections preferred.
Language Skills
You must have strong communication, listening and negotiating skills. Should possess the ability to type and talk simultaneously.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.
Computer Skills
Basic typing and computer skills. Training on Ontario and the phone system will be provided.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to handle stress, problem solve and to be persuasive.
Other Qualifications
Possess ability to be organized and manage time well. Will manage the account and the paper correspondence relating to the account. Will need to have the ability to problem solve and respond to debtor questions. Must be able to analyze a current situation and prior correspondence to respond to debtors responses.
