Accountant II- Legal Vehicle Reporting

The Finance Division of Citigroup Global Markets (part of Citigroup?s Corporate & Investment Bank) acts as a strategic partner across business lines.  Professionals within the division work closely with the management teams of Citigroup's many departments, adding value to the firm's operations through strategic analysis and hands-on participation in planning and in process redesign. The Finance Division consists of Treasury, Tax, Controllers, Audit, Planning & Analysis and Accounting Policy.

 

Finance Control is responsible for a variety of activities related to the firm's financial reporting and controls. The department is divided into different areas of specialization where each group features a unique set of responsibilities that include both analytical and accounting roles. Currently, our Legal Vehicle Reporting group is seeking an Accountant to join the team.

 

Responsibilities: Citigroup?s extensive global network of inter-company transactions requires constant focus and monitoring. Core responsibilities are noted as follows:

 

1) As primary contact for inter-company / inter-affiliate balances and associated controls for major Citigroup operating companies, this function entails monitoring assigned account relationships for inter-company balance differences, researching causes and communication with global associates, towards timely resolution;

2) Responsible for the preparation and communication of detailed account analyses to explain the nature of inter-company relationships, the settlement process and identification and resolution of reconciling items;

3) The preparation/authorization of wire transfer requests to cash settle inter-company receivable/payable balances.

 

These responsibilities all require coordination between various departments within Financial Control, Operations, and Treasury.  The successful candidate will be a quick study, problem-solver and effective communicator at all levels of management.

 

Job Qualifications:

1) General capital market product knowledge, settlements, funds transfers;

2) Office 2000 required, including Excel skills; Hyperion knowledge desirable;

3) Strong ability to develop proficiency in proprietary systems, i.e. accounting, database retrieval applications, and management reporting.

 

Education/Experience:

Bachelors Degree ? Finance/Accounting.

Minimum requirement is 2/3 years of comparable experience within a Financial or Accounting environment.
