Assistant Treasurer

The Assistant Treasurer is responsible for the daily supervision of the financial administration. 

The Assistant Treasurer must have a thorough knowledge of the regulations affecting investment companies and is responsible for the funds? internal and external financial reports and related SEC filings.  Specifically, the responsibilities of the position are as follows:

 

- Coordinates the supervision of financial activities of the funds.

- Assigns specific areas of responsibility for each investment company to the Controllers and staff.

- Assist in staff training and development.

- Coordinates the execution of applicable accounting and tax regulations.

- Coordinates the operation of each investment company as it relates to the custodian, transfer agent or other departments within the organization.

- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the regulatory, tax and other industry developments and implements changes when required.

- Responsible for annual, semi-annual and quarterly reports of the Seligman Investment Companies and the related SEC filings.

- Coordinates audits of investment company financial statements.

- Reviews financial information included in prospectus and SEC filings.

- Reviews or prepares various management and director reports.

- Participate in Audit Committee meetings as necessary.

- Assists in evaluating fair value security pricing when necessary and prepares documentation for pricing committee and Board review.

- Assists in the evaluating the financial implications of new products.

 

 

 

Candidates for the position must have a bachelor's degree in accounting (a CPA is preferred) with a minimum of 6 years of public accounting and/or supervisory experience in the mutual fund industry.  Candidates must be familiar with using automated techniques to process and disseminate financial information.  They must be skilled in using PC based applications to prepare financial models and reports.  In addition, the candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
