TITLE:  Business Analyst, Financial Aid    

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Application Services 

 

DEPARTMENT: Technology Operations 

 

Purpose: The Technology Operations Department requires a Financial Aid Business Analyst to provide business analysis support to the Financial Aid functions.  The position; analyzes and manages a variety of complicated issues and tasks and is expected to utilize analytical expertise and creativity to resolve them in a timely fashion. The position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish group goals.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:  The Financial Aid Business analyst is responsible for developing and reviewing requirements documentation, facilitating meetings with business owners, managing changing requirements, utilizing root cause analysis to resolve issues, defining and streamlining business processes, creating and executing test scripts, creating training material, and facilitating training sessions. This position may also serve as a project manager on small to medium sized projects. The following are specific areas of accountability and responsibility of the position:

? Analyze business stakeholder requirements and translate into functional specifications

? Analyze, verify and correct data

? Perform training on all financial aid modules to internal support teams and business stakeholders

? Create and execute test scripts for integration and upgrade projects

? Provide superior customer support

? Perform testing, verification, and sign-off process with business stakeholders

? Assists support teams in the resolution of customer questions and issues

 

Education, Experience and Skills: The desired candidate has a Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years Business Analysis experience with a focus on Financial Aid or Finance. The following are highly desirable skills expected of position:Proven experience with managing customer relationships, analyzing and documenting business requirements, testing, and trainingFamiliarity with a variety of financial concepts, practices and procedures

? Proficient in both written and oral communications

? Proven ability to work under stress and meet deadlines

? Strong customer service and organizational skills. 

? Must be detailed oriented, and possess strong  mathematical and analytical skills

? Ability to follow processes, work effectively on a team, and maintain a positive attitude

? Strong problem solving skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously are essential.

? Must be a self-starter with experience managing relationships at all organizational levels.

 

Measurement for Success:  The Financial Aid Business Analyst will ensure that all assigned projects are managed in accordance with established timelines and to the satisfaction of the customers. The following are more specific metrics and benchmarks which the Analyst is expected to maintain and improve;

? Balance  the needs of the business and technical teams

? Manage customer relationships and expectations

? Maintain documentation for process or procedures relating to Financial Aid

? Recommend improvements in processes to management
