Cash Applications Specialist

Adecco Technical is currently recruiting for a Cash Applications Specialist for the Columbus area.

-Duration: 3+ Month Contract

The Cash Application Representative posts and applies cash receipts daily for assigned divisions/accounts, completing all related tasks including cash reconciliation and maintaining proper storage of all supporting documentation, and works with Credit and Collections personnel to resolve customer payment reconciliation issues.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

Cash Application:
Post and apply daily cash receipts
Process account adjustments as requested by Credit and Collections personnel?write-offs, offset and unapplied cash instructions, Refund to Customer, etc.
Daily confirmation that all cash and obligation batches are posted
Process bank adjustments
Manipulate customer?s data into standard formats for system uploads
Reconciliation:
Work with Credit and Collections personnel and directly with the customer to obtain remittance information and/or clarification of unclear instructions
Notify Credit and Collections personnel of unapplied cash on accounts and other payment reconciliation issues
Weekly reconciliation of cash activity summaries to cash postings, reporting discrepancies to Coordinator
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned cash clearing and suspense accounts, attaching appropriate supporting documentation
Compare and balance non-sufficient funds? log with appropriate general ledger account activity

Reporting and Analysis:
Update entry spreadsheets in preparation for month-end journal entries
Analyze non-autocash reasons and work toward resolution
Run daily system reports and utilize perform daily tie-outs
Document and report system inconsistencies to Cash Application Supervisor

Other:
Access customer statements as needed
Forward all appropriate documentation to Credit and Collections personnel
Maintain proper storage documentation
Develop strong working relationships with Credit and Collections personnel
Assist with special projects as requested

Position Requirements:

Education or Equivalent:
High School diploma required. Associate Degree preferred. Basic understanding of Accounting preferred.

Experience or Equivalent:

2 + years of cash application experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to work well in team atmosphere
Demonstrated ability to set priorities and complete tasks accurately and timely
Demonstrated excellent customer service and telephone skills
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
10-key skills required
Knowledge of SAP preferred
Overtime required at month-end close or when necessary to meet business needs
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word proficiencies required
