Content Developer - Financial Communications

Morningstar?s Advisor Business is looking for a motivated and innovative content developer to become an integral part of our Financial Communications team. Our content developers are responsible for translating financial data into visual images and presentations that help communicate meaning.  They are responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and correctness of the analysis and images used in various products and services offered through the Financial Communications group. Content Developers are seen as experts in quantitative analysis and the effective communication of advanced financial concepts. More specifically, our Content Developers work with programs like Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel and Morningstar software (Morningstar Direct and Ibbotson EnCorr) to ?tell stories? through visual and verbal representation of financial data.

 

The goal of the Financial Communications group is to provide industry-leading financial content in a variety of helpful formats that aid advisors in growing their business. This often includes education and training, raw materials and resources, sales aids, marketing material, and media sales for the Morningstar Advisor web site and conference. Content Developers and Product Managers work collaboratively to create, proof, and communicate content for the aforementioned products.

 

The ability to turn complicated analysis into easy to understand images is critical to the success of this position. We are looking for a creative individual who is interested in the art and science of communicating investing concepts. The ideal candidate is eager to learn the complex structures of various investment vehicles and can articulate his/her passion for investing. Our Content Developers deal with advanced concepts/analysis and must meet strict deadlines, so we are looking for a self-starter who is detail-oriented and organized. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required given the need to translate data into images that tell a story.

 

Candidates must have a bachelor?s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or related field with an exceptional academic record. Knowledge of the financial services industry is strongly recommended. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including intermediate use of macros and basic VBA programming skills) is desired.
