|
Control Analyst
The Control Analyst plays a central role in supporting the business units in monitoring and enforcing controls within AFS Policies and Procedures. The position involves assisting in the audit of AFS processes that affect accounting and financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with government guidelines and laws. The analyst will assist in identifying control risks, established controls, work flow, and best practices; assisting the business area in their evaluation of additional or improved controls, and in some cases, assisting with the implementation of controls.
Additionally, the analyst will be expected to:
Research and keep abreast of industry issues relevant to assigned business areas. Seek to identify potential conflicts of interest and other factors creating heightened exposure for the Company and the Funds relative to applicable laws and the Compliance Policies and contribute in assessing the adequacy of controls over such risks.
Work with outside auditors to help reconcile discrepancies or support the external auditing function.
Coordinate the monthly process for updating controls, including the monthly/quarterly Sarbanes Oxley disclosure control process.
Facilitate both the weekly Control/Compliance Assessment meeting and the monthly Legal/Compliance small group meeting.
Contribute in the preparation of communications to the Disclosure Committee Working Group and Audit Committees, presenting observations and issues of importance.
Qualifications
Superior written and verbal communication skills and ability to present complex and sensitive information to management
Experience with the assessment, documentation, implementation and/or design of internal controls
Experience with exception reporting and resolution
Overall project management, meeting facilitation and administration skills
Intellectual curiosity with solid analytical abilities
Quick to assimilate and apply complex information
Legal, auditing or compliance background or experience with the SEC/other regulatory bodies would be beneficial, but not required
A work ethic characterized by high integrity and behavior, which will serve as a superior model to others on issues relating to business ethics and responsibility
