Database Administrator

Position: Database Administrator

Responsibilities:

???????? Manage and support all development, test and production databases as well as assist in production issues

???????? Proactively monitor and resolve any database availability/performance issues

???????? Perform database performance optimization and capacity planning

???????? Develop and implement strategy for maintaining security roles, privileges, and authentication

???????? Generate metrics that will help measure and improve database reliability, stability, availability, and maintainability

???????? Prepare, maintain, and analyze production database statistics

???????? Monitor, and maintain all database backup procedures

???????? Coordinate and perform implementation of database products, patches, and new releases

???????? Work with operations to resolve reported problems

???????? Work with engineering team to develop logical design and to implement physical databases from logical designs

???????? Work with project managers to assess database requirements and recommend and implement solutions

Requirements:

???????? Minimum of 5 years Oracle database administration on a Unix platform (Solaris, Linux), including Oracle 9i. (Oracle 9I DBA certification preferred)

???????? Experience with a 24x7 operation

???????? Solid understanding of Oracle internals (memory structures, distributed architecture, client architecture, parallel server, locking mechanisms)

???????? Complete understanding of technical Oracle concepts, including database startup and shutdown options, create and manage indexes, diagnose and resolve locking conflicts, understand and use data dictionary tables and views

???????? Working knowledge of disaster recovery, replication servers, and other database high-availability and maintenance tools

???????? Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining high transaction volume databases

???????? Working knowledge of web server technology fundamentals

???????? Well versed in PL/SQL and data modeling

???????? A detail-oriented, problem-solving attitude and strong time management skills
