Developer I

Major Responsibilities This Mainframe developer position acts independently to translate business and technical requirements into well-engineered, tested and deployed business application systems.
Analyzes and documents customer business requirements to ensure a thorough understanding of business needs
Participates in buy/build analysis and feasibility reviews as well as in the development of RFIs RFPs and vendor reviews
Contributes to or may produce complete designs of business solutions, including assessing project resource requirements
As needed, develops/modifies programs and/or customizes applications to meet Guardian business needs
Evaluates and selects tools necessary to build and support applications
Participates in systems integration efforts to ensure new or modified systems operate effectively in the environment
Conducts tests including user acceptance tests
May lead installation of new or modified systems, providing post-implementation support
Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting for installed solutions

Requirements
BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
3+ years of relevant experience
Have IBM Mainframe development experience with skills in COBOLII, CICS, and JCL.
Strong understanding of fundamentals of requirements specification, design, coding, and testing of information systems.
Demonstrated ability to operate independently to design, develop, and prepare modules for implementation.
