MANAGEMENT and REPORTING STRUCTURE
Community Lending Risk is responsible for managing the credit decision making process for the Community Lending business line, including providing risk guidelines.  The group also works with the business line to develop a strategy to maximize the value of the Community Lending portfolio while anticipating market trends and remaining within acceptable risk limits.  The Director, Credit Portfolio Management contributes to this effort by monitoring and reporting on trends in the Community Lending portfolio and monitoring adherence to the business unit policies developed in conjunction with HCD Risk Management.  As part of the portfolio monitoring, this individual supports the VP. Community Lending Risk in providing input to regulatory requests.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director will:
o Oversee Community Lending portfolio monitoring and reporting:
Lead team responsible for the development of portfolio reporting templates in conjunction with the Reporting & Analytics function of Business Support & Development, for use by the VP, Community Lending Risk and for senior management reporting. Monitor portfolio quality, escalating potential issues, including compliance. Work with the Community Lending business to develop a product strategy, taking credit risk into account and working with RTF to identify options for changing the portfolio risk profile through back-end transactions.
o Provide support for policy development:
Engage with VP, Policy under HCD Risk Management to provide input to policy development discussions, including limit development and taking the lead in ensuring that Community Lending businesses are adhering to policy standards and escalating issues as appropriate.
o Manage analyst team:
Prioritize sub-unit deliverables in the monitoring and reporting of trends in the Community Lending portfolio. Provide guidance and direction to staff in the identification and analysis of Community Lending portfolio trends.  Review all work for thoroughness, quality, and accuracy.
o Coordinate with internal stakeholders:
Support the VP, Community Lending Risk in providing input to regulatory requests. Engage with internal stakeholders to coordinate work, including corporate functions and Multifamily Counterparty.
o Assume responsibility for staff development:
Responsible for development of direct reports. Make recommendations regarding hiring/ retention of staff and manage, motivate, evaluate, train and counsel assigned staff. Manage staff processes.




PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
o Seven to ten years experience with a top financial services, capital markets, or insurance organization
o Three or more years in a leadership role
o Significant experience working in a credit risk management function as a portfolio manager for a commercial real estate lender, fund, etc.
o Demonstrated experience in synthesizing information from a variety of sources
o Strong understanding of Community Lending products and financial instruments.  Ability to quickly understand and adapt to changes in business environment such as market movement or changes in the competitive landscape
o Detailed understanding of portfolio management concepts, in general and as applicable to Fannie Mae
o Demonstrated strong leadership, planning and managerial abilities. Strong project management and/or organizational skills.  Empowers others, builds confidence and demonstrates a positive and energizing style
o Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, and ability to work with the business line and corporate staff
o Knowledge of regulatory requirements surrounding the Community Lending portfolio
