Domestic Insurance Tax Manager

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
* Dual report to Insurance Tax Leader & Domestic Insurance CFO. Manage tax staff &, as appropriate, external resources.

* Provide GE Insurance ($20B+ insurance reserves) with strong, well-informed & timely tax controllership. Determine strategic direction for Domestic Insurance tax function. Partner with Insurance Tax Leader to support Domestic Insurance business &/or product-driven initiatives. Lead tax function participation in business forecasting & reporting processes for Domestic Insurance. Coordinate communication with Domestic Insurance non-tax functions & with GE Corporate Tax.

* As appropriate, develop/implement/manage/oversee ongoing tax function "ownership" transitions to GE Insurance of Domestic Insurance businesses from historic (now external) tax groups at Genworth & Swiss Re. During transition periods, provide high-level review of various tax services & work-product provided by external resources.

* As appropriate, develop/manage Sarbanes Oxley compliant tax processes & functionality for (a) income tax return preparation, (b) tax aspects of quarterly & annual reporting for financial & statutory accounting, and (c) tax forecasting in respect of insurance investment portfolios, and then integrate & coordinate tax processes & functionality into GE Insurance reporting & planning cycles.

* Partner with GE Corporate Tax regarding Life Insurance Subgroup. Review tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments and GAAP & Stat tax provisions. Analyze tax aspects of insurance investment portfolios. Lead tax audit responses for Domestic Insurance.

Qualifications/Requirements:
* 10+ years of progressively responsible experience & record of achievement in the insurance tax industry (in-house &/or national/regional accounting firm), with demonstrated ability to lead &/or develop strategic direction for insurance tax function & related reporting responsibilities & processes

* Knowledge of technical aspects of life insurance company taxation, FAS 109 & FAS 133

* Familiar with re-insurance treaties, variable annuity contracts, structured settlement agreements & long-term care insurance policies

* Energetic, forward-thinking & creative individual with high ethical standards & an appropriate professional image, possessing strong interpersonal & communications skills as well as sound technical & analytical abilities & good judgment

* Well-organized & self-directed individual who can work both independently & within a team structure to drive multiple concurrent projects to completion
