Finance Analyst, GPC Planning & Analysis Group

Department Description:


The Global Private Client (GPC) business has a network of 14,000 Financial Advisors and net revenues of nearly $10 billion.  Its range of products and services, captured under the Total Merrill umbrella, is the broadest in the industry.  GPC will continue to grow via the addition of new revenue sources, more top-quality financial advisors and potential acquisitions.

 Brief Description:


The GPC Planning and Analysis Group (a part of the GPC Finance organization) works with the finance and business leaders of GPC to provide business and financial analysis to support decision making to manage and grow the firm.Job Responsibilities:


The finance analyst role provides a great opportunity to work with several distinct businesses and have regular exposure to senior management.  The group is currently looking to add a talented individual with good finance and accounting skills to work with the team on a variety of projects including, but not limited to the following:

 Consolidation of business forecasts. Production of periodic financial reports for use by senior management. Analysis of financial results versus forecast and budget. Assistance with coordination of annual budgeting process. Creation of management presentations (internal/external audiences).

Active participant in process improvement across the organization.Qualifications:


The successful candidate will possess the following:

 At least two years of experience with a financial services institution is desirable.    Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics is preferred. Excellent technology skills with strong Excel (macros, pivot tables, look-ups and filtering) and PowerPoint skills.  S/he will be able to quickly learn new software applications.Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive. Energetic and decisive, with high level of integrity.S/he will be able to communicate concepts and ideas both verbally and via documentation, to and be able to defend their validity.  Provide examples of a team mentality. A relationship builder, who can establish trust and credibility across the Merrill Lynch organization. 

 

Desirable

 Demonstrates an understanding of the issues relevant to Merrill Lynch, its world-wide businesses, and the global financial services industry; maintains an up-to-date perspective and knowledge of the business; applies business knowledge to solve business problems and create new opportunities.General familiarity with and a high interest level in the retail brokerage business.
