Finance Manager

 

The New York Power Authority (NYPA), America?s largest state-owned, public power enterprise, has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager in New York City.


The Finance Manager position provides technical and managerial oversight for accounting, budgeting, financial reporting and internal control functions for the Poletti, 500MW, and Flynn plants, as well as the small clean power plants and several small hydro facilities. The position provides highly professional and effective accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, financial reporting and analysis services in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all internal controls are properly implemented and working at each facility.

 

Other duties will include accurate maintenance of all financial records and compiling and administering the facilities operation and maintenance budget and capital plan. Implementing the internal controls, accounting, and budget and purchase commitment verification procedures for all facility financial transactions will also be required. The Finance Manager will supervise the facility accounting staff and is responsible for the correctness of all accounts payable and payroll data.

 

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree with thorough knowledge of accounting, budgeting, procurement and cost control, preferably with experience in utility accounting and a minimum of 10 years related experience. Experience in working with SAP R3 and Business Warehouse and the Maximo system are a plus. Must have proven ability to hold a managerial position coupled with evidence of administrative and leadership ability. The ideal candidate will have excellent planning, leadership, presentation, communication, hands on experience working with computerized accounting and procurement systems, decision making skills, and computer skills.
