Functional Designer

CompuCredit, a leader in providing financial products to underserved markets, is seeking a Functional Designer for its Valued Services Financial Holdings subsidiary.

 OVERVIEW:

 

Functional Designer will create system design specifications based on use case specifications. He/she will work closely with Business Analysts, Architects, Database Designers, and Lead Developers. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

?  Define Business Objects, Services and Service Operations.

?  Create and maintain Business Object Model and Services Model using UML modeling tools.

?  Develop system design specifications based on Business Objects and Service Operations. These specifications can include conceptual sequence diagrams, exception processing, error codes, etc.

?  Maintain vendor specifications for external integrations, including Credit Bureaus and Financial Institutions.

?  Work closely with architects, lead developers, data modelers and QA team to ensure proper design and testing of the applications.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

? Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering

? UML Design Methodology or equivalent training a plus

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

? Financial services industry experience

? Object Oriented Analysis and Design

? UML Design Methodology experience a plus

? Web Service design/development experience a plus

? Database modeling or use a plus

? SQL experience a plus

? Object oriented programming experience a plus

? Knowledge of Java, XML and Relational Databases a plus

? Exposure to design patterns and development methodology (RUP)

? Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills

? Ability to comprehend complex business processes/designs

? Ability to understand the business drivers behind client technology initiatives and translate them to both technical and non-technical staff.

? Ability to interpret and influence functional and technical requirements in order to architect optimal solutions, combining functional, technical, and business elements and perspectives

? Strong organization skills

? Must be a team player, highly motivated and results-driven

? Ability to identify reusable components/ subsystems and promote best practices
