Hedge Fund Trade Assistant - Dallas, TX

HBK Investments, L.P. is a global, multi-strategy, market-neutral hedge fund currently managing approximately $10 billion in assets. The firm was founded in 1991 and employs over 275 individuals in Dallas, New York, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

 

Under general supervision, the Trade Assistant will apply their knowledge of finance, accounting, securities, market conditions, and government regulations to support the decision-making processes of Traders focused primarily on credit driven investment products. This group executes credit-driven investments involving the securities of non-sovereign issuers in developed markets, primarily in the United States and Europe. Such investments involve investment grade and high yield bonds, par and distressed loans, convertible bonds, trade claims, credit default and total return swap instruments, index products, and direct interests in assets, including real estate.

 

This person's responsibilities will be divided into 4 main functions:

1.  Trading support

2.  Analyst and portfolio management support 

3.  Spreadsheet improvement and maintenance

4.  Loan agreement administration and accounting

 

1. Trading support:

Duties will include:

- Trade entry

- Trade confirmations with counterparties

- Trade breaks

- Daily P&L for the group

- Trading desk's primary contact / interface with the back office on trade breaks, settlement, instrument setup and issues related to some documentation

- Checking standard documentation regarding completed trades including ISDA and LSTA documentation

 

2. Analyst and portfolio management support:

Duties include special modeling tasks for the analysts.  Concentrations include CapitalIQ and Bloomberg support and resolving Excel questions.

 

3. Spreadsheet improvement and maintenance:

This person will be charged with understanding proprietary and third-party software used for portfolio evaluation and trading.  These include:

- Proprietary Analytics

- Proprietary Risk Servers

- Proprietary Data Servers

- Microsoft Excel and Access

- Bloomberg

 

4. Loan agreement administration and accounting:

Duties include:

- Verifying compliance with financial ratios of portfolio companies

- Tracking fees and payments due on portfolio loans

- Tracking changes to loan terms in HBK's proprietary databases

- Monitoring proprietary spreadsheets supporting analysts and portfolio managers

 

Required Job Skills and Characteristics:

- Must possess 2-4 years of experience in Big 4 Audit/Assurance or Transaction Services

- Bachelors and Masters degree in Accounting and/or Finance

- Minimum overall GPA of 3.7

- CPA or CFA designation is highly preferred

- Very strong MS Excel knowledge  (e.g. Pivot Tables, Macros, VBA programming)

- Strong MS Access knowledge

- Detail orientation, must be able to produce high quality work with no errors

- Strong organization skills

- High level of intelligence

- Technical aptitude, comfortable using and applying technology to increase efficiency
