We currently have an Investment Officer position available in the Tax Exempt Bond Underwriting department in our Baltimore office.

Position Summary:

To conduct risk assessment on real estate projects for debt investments and assist in making recommendations to management regarding the viability of the investment.

 

Responsibilities:

? Analyze, interpret and underwrite complex affordable multifamily real estate transactions

? Develop financial forecasts for various acquisitions or development of affordable multifamily housing.

? Perform an in-depth review of outsourcing reports and identify corrections or changes needed to complete report.

? Conduct detailed economic and demographic research to determine feasibility of transactions

? Review capacity and capability of all parties in the transaction, including but not limited to: 1)  General contractor, 2)  Management Company, 3)  Borrowing Entity, 4)  Guarantors

? Assess risks through evaluation of strengths and weaknesses and develop mitigants to weaknesses identified.

? Upon completion of due diligence prepare narrative summary and financial model to present credit risk conclusion to loan committee

? Review and negotiate loan documents to ensure consistency and compliance with committee approvals

? Coordinate loan closing and direction of funds

? Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal departments.


Ideal Candidate Will Have:

? Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Accounting or Real Estate required; MBA/MSRE preferred

? Applicants must have 2 - 5 years affordable multifamily underwriting experience; other strong real estate finance experience will be considered. Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac underwriting experience a plus. Applicant must possess proven analytical skills, be able to multi-task, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

? Proficiency in Word and Excel required

? Ability to travel nationally 3-5 days per month
