CORPORATE AUDIT GROUP

 

The Merrill Lynch Corporate Audit Department examines, evaluates, and reports on the adequacy of internal controls within Merrill Lynch & Co in order to contribute to the proper, efficient, and effective use of resources. Corporate Audit includes 150 professionals worldwide focusing on Global Private Client Businesses, Global Markets and Investments, Asset Management, and Technology. Corporate Audit?s mission is to have a strong positive impact on the control environment of the Firm by performing risk-based audit work and value added projects, offering advice, and developing our people, while maintaining the highest levels of professional standards and independence.

 Job Responsibilities:


The Audit Practices team in Corporate Audit is responsible for essentially all non-audit functions within the Corporate Audit Group. These functions include maintaining the department?s policies, technology, and reporting, as well as coordinating Corporate Audit?s initiatives to maintain a leading audit practice and coordinating with other departments within the Firm on Enterprise Initiatives.  The successful candidate will manage the industry-leading Quality Assurance Practice within the Corporate Audit Department.  Responsibilities will include:

 

 Coordinating and matrix managing a team of 7 Quality Assurance (QA) reviewers to ensure completion of scheduled QA reviewsDeveloping and managing the risk-based QA review schedule, including selection of audit projects that should be reviewedDeveloping a tracking process for QA reviewsIdentifying themes and executing special projects to address themesCoordinating with the Training Liaison to identify training topicsPresenting QA findings in staff meeting sessionsExecuting QA ReviewsPrioritizing policy/procedure questions to provide timely feedback to audit staffAnalyzing questions received to identify themes, policy/procedure gaps and training needsQualifications:
Essential Skills: 

 

Overall Experience

Minimum 5 years of audit experience, preferably with responsibility for review of workpapers. Strong understanding of internal controls and auditing techniques . Alternatively, the candidate will have experience managing diverse teams and strong analytical and problem solving skills with an interest in developing an understanding of the audit process.

 

Communication 

Be able to communicate concepts and ideas both verbally and via documentation.  This role requires a number of presentations throughout the year to both small and large groups

 

Detail Oriented 

Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive.  Demonstrated experience of analytical and project management skills.

 

Team Player 

Provide examples of a team mentality. A relationship builder, who can establish trust and build credibility across the Merrill Lynch organization at all levels in a fast-paced environment

Management Experience

Demonstrated ability to manage a team and multiple projects.

Required Experience/Qualifications

 Bachelor?s degree.Strong Excel, PowerPoint skills; ability to quickly learn new software applications.

? General familiarity with and a high interest level in financial services.
