Outside Business Activity (OBA) Analyst

Major Purpose

The purpose of this position is to ensure that the field force provides the required information surrounding their Outside Business Activities(OBA), and that these activities do not pose any conflict of interest or potential regulatory issues. This position will make the determination surrounding the approval/declination of any outside business activities conducted by our Registered Representatives.

Major Responsibilities

Ensure that all outside business activities provided by field registered representatives are entered into OBA database and that files are established for submissions. Assist in updating the new Outside Business Activity system. Review, analyze, and evaluate all OBA's and determine whether potential regulatory issues or conflicts of interest exist. Request additional information as necessary and respond to OBA disclosure submissions with approval or declination of the outside business activity. Coordinate and process annual recertification of outside business activities; follow up with field force regarding approval/declination notice; ensure that form U-4 is updated with OBA information. Perform trade surveillance functions as a secondary/back-up basis to existing trade surveillance staff.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years experience in a compliance role, preferably with direct involvement in review and handling of outside business activities in an insurance affiliated broker/dealer environment. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Experience dealing with field level registered representatives. Series 7, 24 and 63 exams preferred, required within 6 months of hire date. Experience with Microsoft Word, Lotus Notes, Access and Excel preferred.
