Plan Analyst

PLAN ANALYST

Primary areas of responsibility:

The Plan Analyst (PA) assists the Account Director in all aspects of the marketing and analysis of group benefit program proposals for both clients and prospects. The PA provides support to the Account Director with respect to issuing and scoring bids for group health and welfare coverage for clients, providing benchmarking research and analysis, and developing detailed client reports. The PA provides substantial financial analysis with occasional direction from the Account Director.

The PA develops methods to easily change their work product / presentation to reflect any changes requested by the Account Director, carrier or client. The PA works on moderate to high complexity cases, constructs flow pages, letters, memos, and executive summaries jointly with the Account Director(s). Demonstrates a high level of accuracy within their work product when reviewed by the Account Director(s). The PA operates somewhat independently with occasional direction from the Account Director(s). In addition, the PA writes flow pages and correspondence with little or no direction with minimal revisions.

The majority of the PA work product will be developed in MS Excel. The PA will utilize the computer in the development of bids, letters, spreadsheets, graphs and presentations.

The PA is expected to understand and use advanced MS Excel features in such as:

Look-up tables
PIVOT tables
Concatenate
Financial functions
Linked formulas


Required Skills:

1. Bachelor?s degree with ideally a major in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 2 years benefit industry experience.
3. High math aptitude/ability to work with numbers
4. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
5. Good communication skills (oral and written)
6. Good organizational skills
7. Ability to work under extreme pressure (deadlines & juggling many projects)
8. Strong understanding of MS application software and the use of Personal Computers
9. Ability to follow directions
10. Ability to self direct
