Portfolio Associate

In February 2006, BlackRock announced its intention to merge with Merrill Lynch Investment Management. The transaction, which is expected to close at the end of the third quarter, will create a global investment management leader with assets in excess of $1 trillion. Primary Responsibilities


The Global Operations group is responsible for the orderly settlement of daily trading activity and serve as a liaison between custodian banks, the dealer community and the Portfolio Management team. The group also assists the Account Managers to accomplish client goals. The process is highly automated and utilizes much of our proprietary Trading Systems.

A Portfolio Associate may be responsible for advising professionals in the portfolio management areas on procedures for clearing and settling transactions involving a wide range of securities; providing operations support to clients and the team; reconcile cash on a daily basis and advise the team on the available cash balances and any outstanding issues; set up new accounts; research and resolve discrepancies between the firm?s records and the custodian bank's records.

Experience


? At least 3+ years of work related experience with demonstrated leadership qualities.
? Knowledge of fixed income securities.
? Possesses excellent computer skills and communications skills.
? Works well as part of a team. Enjoys a fast-paced, high-intensity environment. Able to multi-task and absorb information across broad spectrum of products. Has an entrepreneurial spirit that is willing to take on additional responsibility quickly.
? A college degree is required. Experience or an interest in Finance is a plus.
