JOB DESCRIPTION:

The project manager's principle responsibility is to deliver the project end-item within budget and time limitations, in accordance with technical specifications, and when specified, in fulfillment of profit objectives. Other, specific responsibilities vary depending on the project manager's capabilities, the current stage of the project, the size and nature of the project, and the duties delegated by upper management. Delegated responsibility ranges at the low end from the rather limited influence of a project expeditor up to the highly centralized, almost autocratic control of pure project manager. Though responsibilities vary, usually they include:Planning project activities, tasks, and end results, including work breakdown, scheduling, and budgetingOrganizing, selecting and placing the project teamCoordinating tasks and allocating resourcesInterfacing with constituenciesNegotiating with and integrating functional managers, contractors, consultants, users, and top managementServing as contact with the userEffectively using project team and user personnelMonitoring project statusIdentifying technical and functional problemsSolving problems directly or knowing where to find helpDealing with crises and resolving conflictsRecommending termination or redirecting efforts when objectives cannot be achievedWriting business, system and functional requirementsSpanning all of these is the umbrella responsibility for integration, coordination, and direction of all project elements and life-cycle stages. This responsibility involves:Identifying interfaces between the activities of functional departments, subcontractors, and other project contributors,Planning and scheduling so the efforts are integrated, and Monitoring progress, identifying problems, communicating the status of interfaces to contributors, and initiating and coordinating corrective action
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS DESIRED (MUST BE JOB RELATED):
Required:Bachelors in Engineering, Computer Science or related field3 or more years experience in technical project management, product management, software engineering, or financial servicesSpecific knowledge of project management skills in a technology environmentAbility to handle multiple projects, to effectively prioritize and to multi-task in a dynamically changing environmentStrong judgment and leadership skillsExperience with managing large initiativesExposure to standard software development lifecycle/processExceptional verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of securities industry and / or related financial services experienceStrong planning and project organization skillsNegotiation, decision-making, problem solving, influencing skillsEffectively use Microsoft Office applications and PC proficiency in Windows-based programsAbility to implement changes throughout the organizationFinancial services industry experience
Preferred:Masters Degree in MIS, MBA, MS, or CSExperience with use case analysis and UMLExperience with IVR application developmentExperience with web application developmentWorking knowledge in the following technology: object-oriented, VXML, & JavaSeries 7
