Description
The Prime Brokerage Reporting Manager is responsible for overall management of Client Reporting for Prime Brokerage. An effective candidate will have experience in the Hedge Fund business, specifically with respect to report specification and development, report standards, generation and delivery methods, and familiarity with report types for multiple products and functional areas (ie ? Accounting, Operations, Margin). In addition to ?Hedge Fund Industry? knowledge, the reporting manager should possess a strong technical aptitude ? not necessarily programming skills, but an ability to interact effectively with technology development and support staff.
As the Prime Brokerage business matures, more clients will move to a Multi Asset Class model which will require coordination with other Business Units within Morgan Stanley in order to deliver reports that include the full range of products that our clients trade. The vision of Prime Brokerage is to scale the business through efficiency and process improvement. In that light, streamlining the report generation and delivery infrastructure into a more flexible reporting platform will be the focus of this position.
Skills Required
Reporting
? Responsible for Overall Prime Brokerage reporting coordination globally
o Streamlining the report generation and delivery infrastructure
o Ensures that proposed new or modified reporting is cost effective
o Prioritize all reporting development
? Write requirements documents as needed
o Ensure that data, calculations, and descriptive headings are consistent across all reports
o Provide guidance and assistance where needed for all Prime Brokerage reporting specialist functions
o Manage report inventory
Reporting Technology
? Represent Prime Brokerage Business Unit on long-term technology initiatives related to Reporting
o Infrastructure (i.e. ? RDS, RepDel, entitlements, etc.)
o Integration (i.e. ? MSPA/MSPM/Risk, swaps, etc.)
o Other technology and tools
Strategy
? Ensure that the reporting team develops a new strategy for internal and management reporting
? Develops consistent interface and definitions across Prime Brokerage Business Unit?s products and reports
? Develop a clear understanding as to how fund services will use all existing and future reporting and tools
? Develop and manage the implementation of the future state of client reporting
o Solicit ideas/feedback from IT/Business Unit/and Clients as to the direction of the future state of reporting
o deficiencies are with the existing platform; client services requirements; client demands
o Develop a consistent account hierarchy across all products where possible
o Write requirements documents and business plans where needed
o Integration of fund services to the platform
Skills Desired
Candidate Qualifications/Required Skills
? 5-10 years of hedge fund experience with strong reporting knowledge
? Ability to interact with technology staff on development and production and support issues
? Project management and implementation skills, including requirements and vendor selection
? Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
? Process re-engineering background a plus
