Position: Research / Securities Analyst

 

W. R. Huff Asset Management is an investment management and private equity boutique based in Morristown, New Jersey, specializing in high yield corporate bonds and private equity investments.  In addition, on a selective basis, W. R. Huff invests for its clients in equity securities.

 

The position will require qualitative and quantitative analysis of both industries and companies, and involve potential investments across the capital structure. Pay is commensurate with experience.

 

The research process at Huff is based on the belief that research begins at the industry level; that the analysis of a company can only be done after one understands the underlying fundamentals of an industry.  The emphasis is on understanding the qualitative drivers of an industry and how these factors converge to drive the quantitative factors that determine a company?s intrinsic value.  Contact with top-level executives and industry experts is certain, therefore a high level of maturity, poise and independence is necessary.  Depth of knowledge is valued over breadth of knowledge.  Analysts at Huff can skip the years of mindless number crunching they might start with at a traditional Wall Street firm, and begin developing valuable industry expertise, while focusing on challenging and interesting investments.

 

At Huff, we invest in a select number of industries.  Those industries are as follows: (i) communications, including the Internet, radio and television broadcasting, cable television and other forms of broadband access, wireline and wireless telephony, paging and satellite; (ii) publishing; (iii) healthcare; (iv) chemicals; (v) paper, forest products and packaging; (vi) food retailing, distribution and branded food products; (vii) energy and natural resources; (viii) environmental; and (ix) defense and aerospace.
