Retirement Specialist (Member Services)

The Teachers Retirement System of Georgia is currently seeking a Retirement Specialist to work in our Member Services Division. The candidate for this position must demonstrate the following: high energy, detail-oriented committed to providing quality customer service and support to our members. The candidate must be able to, under general supervision, compile, analyze and integrate financial accounts and work histories of members applying for retirement or withdrawing funds.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviewing and entering data from multiple forms submitted for retirement or refund processing. Performing duties through the application of state and federal laws, Board of Trustees and administrative policies and guidelines. Maintaining accuracy of work performed Providing members with comprehensive account information regarding benefits as well as federal and state tax liabilities and the loss of future retirement benefits. Providing quality verbal and written communication with members, reporting agencies, federal and state agencies and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: College course work in accounting, payroll or math related fields Experience gathering and compiling, and reconciling information on client accounts Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in analyzing, interpreting, and applying retirement system laws and policies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to make accurate basic mathematical computations Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2 years experience reviewing and processing client accounts
