Purpose
As a Risk Analyst for Debit/Check Authorizations, you will use a risk/reward methodology to analyze Target Financial Services' (TFS) debit and check authorization policies and strategy decisions. You will also gather relevant internal and external data; use a variety of analytic tools and techniques to perform statistical and financial analysis that create actionable collections/risk decisions; implement strategic initiatives through an adaptive control methodology that leads to optimal performance and continual learning; disseminate results through reporting and presentations to both senior management and impacted business lines.

Developing strategies to drive lower net loss rates, facilitate positive guest interactions, and identify other profitable opportunities
Analyzing authorization strategy performance, calculating Economic Value Added (EVA) for various business strategies, and understand risks, trends and opportunities in our business with the objective of enhancing the financial performance of TFS
Preparing competitive and industry research as needed
Developing and managing authorization decisions for the Target stores
Completing financial forecasts and post-event analysis for risk management strategies. This includes developing analytical models, profit and loss projections, and EVA and NPV calculations
Creating analytical models to analyze and segment guest behavior
Analyzing and measuring the effectiveness of processes used to manage check inventory
Leading initiatives to understand risk management software and data offered by vendors that can be integrated into the TFS business
Providing requirements for software and process enhancements needed to integrate credit policy into the business lines
Working closely with System Administrators to ensure an appropriate adaptive control methodology is implemented
Performing complex qualitative and quantitative research on credit portfolios and developing strategic programs to optimize benefits to the company (enhance revenues, reduce losses, etc.)
Conducting proforma analysis of strategy proposals to determine the full financial impact on the credit portfolios
Being responsible for obtaining senior management approval of authorization policy changes and works closely with the appropriate business lines to ensure compliance
Communicating policy changes to the appropriate business lines and addresses resources and implementation concerns
Providing periodic presentations of analysis projects to peers and senior management
Managing strategic projects and initiatives as assigned
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Degree in math, statistics, economics, operations research or related quantitative discipline
3-5+ years of risk management or check authorization analysis experience within the retail services industry
Strong understanding of financial theory and credit concepts
Strong financial modeling skills
Working knowledge of SAS, SQL or other data analysis programming software
Knowledge and experience using SAS Enterprise Miner, SPSS or other Tree Regression software
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
