Risk Data Administrator

Vanguard, one of the world's leading investment management companies, seeks a Risk Data Administrator to help implement and maintain a Risk Management Program supporting our Financial Advisor Services (FAS) and Institutional Asset Management (IAM). Your primary responsibilities will be to support the Risk Administrators by performing analyses of client data and transaction activity for FAS/IAM Risk assessment projects.

You'll ensure that data needs are met by verifying that requirements are documented, designed, and delivered in accordance with the request documentation. You'll use your understanding of Vanguard's business to analyze and interpret data, and work closely with the Risk Administrators and business units to resolve issues. You'll summarize your analyses in clear, easy-to-understand language that effectively communicates the details and conclusions to Risk Administrators.

You'll manage data mining projects by estimating effort, establishing milestone dates, communicating with requestors, and managing multiple priorities. You should understand and be able to work with data owners or IT to obtain data from all relevant Vanguard data systems. You'll also verify the quality of data contained within charts, graphs, reports, databases and presentations.

You should seek and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and quality of data and analysis

You'll participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a financial, business and/or analytical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in Risk Management, preferably mutual fund experience. An understanding of basic statistical terms and procedures. Experience querying and creating databases using software programs. Working knowledge of the technology and tools used to access, manage, and report information across multiple platforms. Strong analytical, problem-identification and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision. Ability to work both independently and within teams. Ability to analyze complex business and technical issues and develop potential solutions/recommendations. Strong communication skills. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, iGrafx, and query application software, such as ACL.
