Group Objective: The Schwab Institutional (SI) Equity Trading desk builds long-term relationships with Schwab Institutional’s Investment Managers by providing a combination of world-class service and superior executions.  In addition to special handling of large orders, we act as our client’s advocate, providing a resource for institutions to leverage an intelligent, driven team of trading professionals.


Position Responsibilities:


The Equity/Option desk is a team of self-motivated trading professionals who differentiate themselves from other institutional trading desks by combining a passion for service with an ability to instill confidence in our executions.  Our team members must have the ability and desire to operate in a fast paced, dynamic environment.  This position requires each individual to provide value added services to institutional clients beginning with understanding our electronic platform.  The position requires the individual to take ownership of the entire process, from establishing connections and performing walkthroughs, to explaining the features and benefits of various channels such as CyberTrader.  The ideal candidate would have knowledge of FIX based systems, as well as the ability to work with clients to encourage electronic adoption, where appropriate.  The position requires an ability to provide special handling on large orders, provide timely trade reports, and relay color and intelligence from market centers.  The candidate must perform post trade date follow up to ensure we earn the balance of the order, or to possibly grow the order.  In supporting Investment Managers, we are also expected to handle block trade allocations, post trade date trade corrections, explain best execution obligations, and handle a variety of service requests.


Qualifications:


First and foremost, a passion for service.  Ability to instill confidence in our institutional quality executions.  Expert level knowledge of equity/option markets as well as skilled special handling of large, illiquid orders.  Understanding of the value we bring to each relationship.  Ability to cultivate relationships with demanding internal and external customers.  Strong communication skills and a work ethic that matches that of the team.  Technological capability to navigate order management systems, market data systems, and order flow communication.  Must have an ability to manage and mitigate risk to the firm by limiting errors and showing leadership.  Knowledge of Legacy, Bridge, and order management systems.  Passion for service, teamwork, and communication.
