Position/Title:  Senior Consultant, Defined Benefit/Defined Contribution (DB/DC)

 

Reports to:  Vice President/Operations

 

Summary of Position:  Plan Administration and Consulting



 

Duties and Responsibilities:

?  All facets of administration and annual compliance of qualified plans for a designated group of clients.  Representative client case load 50-125 plans, varies by plan type, size and complexity.

?  Determination of plan eligibility, benefit or contribution levels, minimum funding, optimum and maximum tax deductible amounts.  Perform actuarial valuations for ERISA and FASB87/132 purposes.

?  Performance of annual testing to demonstrate satisfaction of IRS participation, coverage and non-discrimination requirements.

?  Preparation of annual IRS/DOL Form 5500 reports and related schedules, PBGC premium payment Form 1 and Schedule A.

?  Preparation of periodic statements for plan participants.

?  Preparation of participant distribution and loan packages.

?  Respond to consulting and administrative questions from clients.

?  Primary responsibility for tracking and monitoring job progress and ensuring the necessary data is requested and received from the client and their advisors in order to meet compliance deadlines.

 

Qualifications:

8-10 years of relevant experience in an equivalent position for a company in the Retirement Plan Administration business.  Certification with relevant organizations (e.g. ASPAA) is strongly preferred.  Generally, individuals with longer experience/greater abilities are responsible for larger clients and more complex plan design situations.

 

Education:

Generally, a BA or BS degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred.  Professional designations are a plus.  Such certifications include: (i) ?Certified Pension Consultant? (CPC), ?Qualified Plan Administrator? (QPA), ?Qualified 401(k) Plan Administrator? (QKA) through the American Society of Pension Actuaries, (ii) ?Certified Employee Benefit Specialist? (CEBS) with the International Foundation for Employee Benefit Plans.
