Senior Policy Compliance Specialist

Under the direction of the Senior Manager of New Product Risk Assessment and Business Unit Compliance, this position's function is to ensure that Radian processes, procedures, and related controls, are properly designed, functioning as designed, and are in accordance with associated Radian Credit/Risk Policy and Procedures. The incumbent will interact with a wide range of Radian personnel in order to carry out this function.

The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:

The Senior Manager will assign a policy compliance review project to the incumbent. The incumbent then will:

Gain a detailed understanding of the Policy and Procedures and the intended (and actual) function of the area under review (by obtaining and reviewing related documentation, interviewing relevant personnel, etc.).

Document this understanding in process narratives or flowcharts and in an Audit Planning Memo,

Ascertain the appropriate scope and objective for the review for inclusion in the Audit Planning Memo,

Estimate the number of personnel hours and other resources necessary to perform all facets of the review,

Design appropriate review steps and document the steps in an Audit Program, and

Present these planning documents to PQA management for review and approval.

The incumbent will perform the review steps established in the Audit Program, and will formally document the work performed and results obtained.

The incumbent will formulate recommendations to address control and/or process weaknesses noted, and will review findings and suggested recommendations at exit meetings held with appropriate Radian personnel.

The incumbent will prepare a formal report for the review, including information on the review scope, objective, results, recommendations, and management response.

The incumbent will perform follow-up reviews in order to monitor management"&tm;s progress in addressing and resolving any previous issues noted.

Required Skills:
The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor"&tm;s degree in Accounting or Business Administration as well as CPA or CIA designation and at least 5-8 years of relevant experience.

The candidate must have a demonstrated understanding and hands on experience in all facets of conducting process, internal control, and compliance/auditing reviews. The experience will include the ability to plan an audit, conduct risk assessment, execute fieldwork, and write a comprehensive report of risks and recommended solutions.

The experience/skills required will come from an internal audit or public accounting background. In addition, the candidate will have a demonstrated ability to effectively and persuasively present and communicate findings and recommendations to senior level positions and to obtain commitment for corrective actions. Furthermore, the qualified candidate will have proven oral, presentation and writing skills as well as PC skills (PowerPoint, Excel), including the ability to retrieve, and to effectively analyze and draw proper conclusion from, various company data.

Mortgage industry knowledge is essential.
