Senior Research Analyst, Corporate Development

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Work as an integral member of project teams for both the M&A and the Corporate Strategy functions. Key projects include:

 Business Unit Strategy ? Analyzing and making recommendations on diverse domestic and international business issues and opportunities, including competitive positioning, market dynamics, and new product, customer, or distribution initiatives.  M&A Strategy ? Researching acquisition opportunities that support the business and growth strategies of the organization.Competitive Intelligence ? Gathering and benchmarking financial and business data on key New York Life peersM&A Execution ? Building financial models and deal valuations; assisting in due diligence and transaction negotiation and documentationStrategic Planning ? Developing information on key trends and strategic issues impacting the industry and the company

 

Requirements for Position:

 

Education ? Minimum requirement is an undergraduate major in finance, economics or business.  An MBA is preferredWork Experience ? 1 to 3 years at a strategy consulting and / or investment banking firm or equivalent experience in a corporate environment.Research and Analysis ? Experience identifying, locating, and synthesizing public information on diverse topics and issues, as well as companiesFinancial Analysis and Modeling ? Ability to understand and work with standard GAAP and statutory financial statements, as well as creating financial modelsWritten and Oral Communications Skills ? Ability to clearly communicate complex issues to diverse, interdisciplinary groupsInterpersonal Skills ? Capable of interacting and effectively working with team members within the department, with employees throughout New York Life, as well as with external parties such as consultants and bankersComputer Skills ? Highly proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access, as well as statistical analysis packagesDrive ? A desire to learn and work with our high-impact and high-profile team, at all levels of our organization.
