Settlements Specialist - International, Domestic Equity, Fixed Income

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All duties are subject to need and availability.  Interact with the traders & agent banks to achieve timely settlement of delivery; receive trades through DTC/FED, Local Markets & Foreign depositories.Settle and clear securities transactions. Research failed deliveries, liaise with agent banks and resolve issues before deadlines. Research failed receives, liaise with brokers and resolve issues before deadlines.Post failed trades of settlement date plus two on the settlement department fail trade report. Monitor failed trades until resolved.Coordinate and assist in resolving out of balance conditions reported by the reconcilement team on items regarding trades.Assist in maintaining the Omgeo ALERT account settlement instructions. Setting up new accounts on ALERT and making changes to existing accounts as needed.Assist with special account handling utilizing proprietary systems.Interact with clients utilizing diplomacy and tactful interpersonal skills on sensitive issues while assisting the client?s requests or needs. Solve problems on all referred issues to the department. REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 5 years experience in the financial industry.Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skillsExcellent computer skills (Windows 2000)Knowledge of ALERT, CTM, Near Match, FIN, a big plusExcellent ability with numbers and ability to spot discrepanciesExcellent spreadsheet knowledgeExcellent organizational skillsAbility to work effectively in a multi-task environmentExcellent follow-up skillsAbility to work well with all levels of management and staff, clients, consultants, brokers and vendors, and various types of dispositions
