Sr. Business Analyst

A Senior Business Analyst (SBA) will be responsible for leading the collection, analysis, documentation and coordination of a business segment's requirements. The SBA will also work closely with the Business Service Partner (BSP) to develop business plans in support of specific business directions and initiatives. Provides consultation, coordination, and/or staff support to various strategic committees and programs both internal and external to IT.

- Collect, analyze and document business requirements.
- Manage business"&tm;s priorities of projects and requests. Assess business needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to prioritize immediate business needs and recommends options, risks and cost vs. benefits.
- Establish liaison relationship with business partners in order to provide technical solutions. Analyze business workflows to address business needs.
- Manage business segment"&tm;s priorities of projects and requests. Assess business needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to prioritize immediate business needs and recommends options, risks and cost vs. benefits.
- Conduct feasibility studies and draft proposals for evaluation by appropriate users and managers. Develop and assist in the presentation of the technology portion of business cases.
- Document and present sound work products by demonstrating the ability to research subjects to support project work. Should be able to research and retrieve information needed to better serve the business.
- Develop, write, and communicate business requirements for the design and implementation of business solutions. Procure technical assistance to help in problem resolution.
- Develop Service Level Agreements (SLA) or select vendors for business segments in accordance with IT standards and specifications as required.
- Promote an understanding of IT roles, processes and activities to the business units. Support and participate in the formal reporting of project status. Manage customers"&tm; expectations.

Required Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/MIS & 5+ years industry experience.

Analysis and organization. Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements.

Writing and modeling. Communicate in writing to users, stakeholders, and IT collaborators. Represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment textual representations in natural language using UML. Efficiency in Microsoft Office desired.

Requirements management and SDLC. An understanding of contemporary requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management practices and the ability to apply them in a team environment. An understanding of how to practice requirements engineering according to software development life cycles. Knowledge and experience in using requirements management and specification tools such as Popkin Software Architect, DOORS, and Test Director.

Facilitation, interviewing, observation and listening. Lead requirements elicitation workshops and encourage balanced contributions to discover the true business need. Validate data obtained via other techniques and expose new areas for elicitation. Detect what stakeholders and users might be hesitant to say.

Negotiation. Strong interpersonal skills to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders.

Domain knowledge. Knowledge of the financial vertical and mortgage insurance in particular.
