Sr. Software Developer Project Leader

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the IT Director, the incumbent is responsible for the development of applications software in all phases of the software development life cycle. Works with IT and end user management to design, develop and implement new complex business applications, and to provide support of existing applications. Provides project leadership/supervision for the Departments programming efforts.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

A. Development of Applications SoftwarePerforms analysis of software requirements and acceptance of program specifications. Flowcharts business rules for program design. Plans, develops, writes, tests, and implements new complex software applications. Maintains and modifies existing software to stay current with changing business and technical needs. Prepares business data models and designs relational/hierarchical data bases to optimize information retrieval. Prepares internal programming specifications according to general development standards. Writes programs using high level languages. Develops and maintains documentation for software. Integrates software on various technical platforms and facilities data migration. Assists in long range planning of development goals. Evaluates, recommends and implements 3rd party software products. Performs SQL Database Administration. Supports Website and .Net environment.

 

B. Supervision/Project LeadershipProvides project leadership for IT and functional staff through individuals efforts and group participation on cross-functional teams. Directs the efforts of assigned staff in the development and maintenance of application programs. Assigns work and evaluate performance.

 

C. Support of Users and Applications SoftwareAssists IT staff in providing on-line technical support of applications by answering and troubleshooting user and technical problems. Consults with user and technical groups on how to effectively use business applications.

 

D. TrainingIntegrates software and documentation into user-ready package and design user and operational aids. Plans and conducts systems training and consulting as part of the development process.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

A. Professional Education/ExperienceBachelor's degree in COmputer Science or Information Technology required. MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer) preferred. THree to FIve years of progressive work responsibilities in Software development and support. Must be capable of applying theoretical knowledge across multiple functional areas within a Microsoft WIndows Server (NT 4.0 and 2003) environment.

 

B. KnowledgeDetailed knowledge of relational data base systems, Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 and 2000 and client/server development environment. Detailed knowledge of a high level languages and Script languages, such as Visual Basic 6.0, VB Script, JAVA Script, DB Grid, Visual Source Save, etc. Detailed knowledge of commercial development tools, report writers, such as Access, Crystal Reports, etc. Detailed knowledge of Internet tools an .Net platform: Visual Studio.Net, VB.Net, ASP.NET, XML, HTML/DHTML, IIS 5/6, etc. Knowledge of Windows NT 4.0, Server 2003, WIndows 2000, WIndows XP Pro, and general PC software, such as Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, etc. Ability to perform independently and have successfully completed a variety of projects. Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect relative importance of work responsibilities. Ability to establish positive working relationships with IT staff members, managers, and system users. Excellent communication skills to obtain and convey information in a clear and concise manner.
