Support Analyst, Global Liquid Products Support
There is an opportunity for a role within the Global Liquid Products Support that forms part of Global Markets Trading Technology (GMTT) of a major bank in New York City.
The team needs someone who can:
1.Work effectively in a client focused global financial organisation
2.Analyse technical problems quickly and effectively; Liaise with other members in the team to quickly diagnose support calls from users, supporting applications built using C++, Java, Perl and other scripting languages on a Unix/Linux and Windows platform;
3.Work independently on projects and manage concurrent tasks effectively;
4.Willingness to travel (ideally twice a year for two week periods) as the Application Software is geographically spread between London, New York and Chicago. Background on the team
The GLP Support team is responsible for the support of EFX, FX, Interest Rate Derivative applications among a variety of other applications. The successful candidate would initially be placed in the FX/EFX area working with internal and external clients. The GLP Support team is geographically situated between Chicago, New York, London, Bangalore and Singapore; these teams together provide a ?follow-the-sun? support model for multiple trading floors throughout the globe. Description of the role:
The role is to initially provide day-to-day support for EFX/FX applications from e-commerce middle tier through to trade capture systems and it is expected that the successful candidate will spend around 75% of their time working on day to day support issues on the production grid, 25% participating in project work.
The role is predominately that of support with project work. Good interpersonal skills are needed in working with other support teams and developers to correctly identify their application related issues.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Day to Day Support for production applications
- Testing, performance monitoring and trouble shooting.
- Scripting as and when required on UNIX, and Linux platforms.
- Dealing/Communicating with External Clients over the Telephone.
- Assisting and working with other Development teams with their Grid development.
Summary of Essential Skills Required
- Good Computing Qualification
- FX/EFX Application experience advantageous
- Understanding/Knowledge of supporting middleware and application Infrastructure.
- Level of UNIX/Linux understanding should reflect 2-4 years experience.
- Level of Scripting should reflect 2-4 years experience (e.g. any of the following: Perl, ksh/bsh/csh Unix, Java or SQL Scripting)
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and must be a team player.
- The interview process will include multiple perl, scripting and UNIX exercises.
